Kurt’s piece was heavily inspired by Alan Silvestri’s works, mainly Predator and its sequel. The piece was envisioned as a cue to fit some kind of action chase scene, where the main characters are being hunter by a superior force. The music is mostly action oriented with variations of the same motif sprinkled around. It then slows down before swelling into the climax with brass, choir and timpani.
Infinite Brass and Woodwinds were set to Bersa Hall. Horns were grouped in groups of 2. There’s some EQ across the sections, but mainly on the low brass to make them more clear in the mix. Trumpets playing vibrato towards the end was enough to help them cut through.
The master chain includes a soft lift in the mid frequencies, a glue compressor and some tape saturation to make it all blend together.
